Cognate with Old High German zeisan (“to tease, pick wool”). Related also to Dutch tezen (“to draw, pull, scratch”), German zeisen (“to pluck, pluck apart”), Danish tæse (“to tease”), Old English tǣsan (“to tease”). More at tease.
