Slip Stitch Definition

A continuous stitch for a folded edge, especially a hem, in which the fabric is fastened together by a series of extra long stitches in the back and small, widely spaced stitches in the front that are intended to be nearly invisible.

A stitch that is passed from one needle to the other without being worked.

In crocheting, a short stitch made by passing the yarn through one or more loops, usually used to connect chains of stitches, join pieces, finish an edge, etc.
