Hot-wire Anemometer Definition

An anemometer consisting of an exposed wire through which electric current is passed and whose temperature is measured. The amount of power necessary to keep the wire at constant temperature given loss of heat via convection with the moving fluid serves as a measure of the fluid's velocity.
