Hippolyta led her Amazons from war and slavery in Ancient Greece to an island they dubbed Themyscira.
Woven throughout Wonder Woman's story were the threads of her background going back to her days on Paradise Island, as the daughter of the immortal Amazon Queen Hippolyta.
Hippolyta formed the child, named Diana, from the very clay of the Island itself.
