Hemoglobin A1C Definition

A blood glycoprotein formed by the binding of glucose to the beta chain of hemoglobin A.

A test that measures the average percentage of this glycoprotein in the blood for the preceding two to three months, used as a diagnostic tool and as an indicator of blood glucose control in diabetes.
