Agency Shop Definition

An establishment in which a union represents all employees regardless of union membership and requires that nonmembers pay union dues or fees.

A contract arrangement between an employer and the union representing the majority of employees, which requires those who do not wish to be members to pay the union a fee equivalent to union dues.

A factory, store, etc. in which this arrangement is in effect.

A place of employment in which a union receives dues or the equivalent for all employees excluding management, and bargains for all such employees whether or not they are members of the union.
