1. Why does my Word of the Day look like gibberish?

It may be because your email application is set to only accept text messages, instead of HTML, the code in which web pages are written for the computer. In most email applications, you can choose to receive HTML messages as well as text.

2. How do I unsubscribe from Word of the Day?

It's easy (for you, not for us-we'll miss you).

  • Go to the Registration page
  • At the bottom, you will see an unsubscribe box. Simply enter your email, exatly as you have subscribed to Word of the Day, and cick the Unsubscribe button.
  • Don't worry, you can always resubscribe from any page on YourDictionary.

3. Do you offer a Word of the Day in language X?

We are aware of a wide interest in a Word of the Day in languages other than English. We will be responding to this interest.

4. How do I suggest a Word of the Day?

First, go to the Archive at http://www.yourdictionary.com/wotd/word-day-recent and, using your browser's search function (control+F), check to see if the word you have in mind has been used previously. Alternately you can visit our Suggest a Word Forum and while there can search the forum for past words of the day as well as post a request for a word of the day. If you don't find the word you are looking for you can post a request in the forum or send an e-mail and tell us what you'd like to see.

5. I saw this word-which language does it come from?

First, try our Language Identifiers. If that fails it is unlikely that anyone on our staff will be able to identify your word without some supportive evidence.

6. Something is wrong with an entry or a word is missing from dictionary X. YourDictionary.com doesn't own or maintain the dictionary that you access with your look-up button or from the front page of the site. We license the best on-line dictionary, the Webster's New World Dictionary.
