From Persian اهریمن (Ahriman), from Middle Persian (Ahreman), from Avestan ⸱ (aŋra mainiiu), compound of (aŋra, “destruction, destructive”) and (mainiiu, “spirit, mind, essence, emanation etc.”). Definable through the antithetical ⸱ (aməša mainiiu, “bounteous spirit”).
